Terms of Service
Last updated: 23 June 2026
These terms govern your use of ExamGuard Online. By creating an exam or an account, you agree to them.
1. The service
ExamGuard is software for building and running online exams with best-effort in-browser proctoring. The free tier runs locally in your browser. Paid tiers add optional cloud sync, accounts and remote students.
2. Honest limits of proctoring
No proctoring tool can prevent all cheating, and we do not claim to.ExamGuard raises the cost and traceability of cheating through risk scoring and identity watermarking. It is one layer of integrity, not a guarantee. You are responsible for your own exam policies and for any decisions made about a student based on ExamGuard data. Risk scores are signals for human review, not verdicts.
3. Your responsibilities
- Use ExamGuard lawfully and only for exams you are authorised to run.
- Where students are involved, comply with your institution's and your jurisdiction's rules on student data and assessment.
- Keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
4. Plans & billing
Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period. See our Refund Policy for refund terms.
5. Availability
The local tier works offline and does not depend on us. Cloud features are provided on a commercially reasonable best-effort basis without an uptime guarantee on lower tiers.
6. Liability
ExamGuard is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for academic, disciplinary or institutional decisions you make using the tool. Our total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the prior 12 months.
7. Changes
We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
